We are a women owned and run coffee farm nestled in the southwest region of Antioquia on the foot of the Cerro Bravo dormant volcano. Hacienda San Pedro was bought from a bank and has been in the Fernandez family for over 80 years. Our forefathers dedicated their lives to creating sustainable coffee practices. Four generations of the Fernandez family have grown coffee here and we continue with the development of the best coffee production processes which will not affect other small coffee growers.
La Colombanda Coffe Co. have the advantage of having continuous small productions due to our privileged location and microclimate. That means that we can supply small batches year-round either in green coffee or roasted in origin within weeks of being ordered.
Our love for nature can be seen at our farm when you visit and are welcomed by twelve very happy dogs. You will immediately notice how cool mountain streams nurture a landscape filled with tall Eucalyptus, banana and our coffee trees. We care for our environment. Therefore, we only use mineral based fertilization, we maintain our natural forests and we protect our water sources.
The farm's coffee is shade grown at an elevation between 1650M to 1750M (5400ft to 5740ft). Picked by hand, our coffee is then fermented 24 to 36 hours and it is either washed naturally or honey washed and dried by the sun in our solar tunnels to capture the natural sweetness of the cherry.
Amongst the shade of the surrounding trees grows a variety of coffee species known for their outstanding flavor and robust character. This blend includes:
Emilio was the third owner of the farm. Now the farm is run by his daughters.
